Who is behind Audiophile Import
My name is Luis,
It all started with a Sony Walkman my father gave me and a pair of Koss Porta Pros I bought at fourteen, saving my allowance peso by peso for months. They weren't expensive, nor did they pretend to be. But the first time I put them on, I listened to an album I thought I knew by heart and found things that had never been there before.
That never left me. On the contrary: it became a problem. Because when you discover there is something more inside a recording, you can no longer stop looking for it.
The obsession
There are three types of people who end up getting involved in this, and I am all three.
The music lover, who knows who played bass on that record, in what studio it was recorded, and why that band never sounded the same afterward. The audiophile, who wants to hear exactly what was left on the tape, with nothing added or lost along the way. And the engineering fanatic, who needs to know what chip is inside, why they chose that one and not another, and how many revisions the board had before it hit the market.
This store exists because those three obsessions point to the same place.
What I learned the hard way
The twelve years I've been doing this were not a straight line.
In my mid-twenties, I became obsessed with a pair of headphones. One of those recognized by everyone and which is also a beautiful object, the kind you want to own even if they didn't make sound. I studied it for almost a year: every review, every forum thread, every measurement. I saved up peso by peso, just like with the Porta Pros, but this time it was three thousand dollars. I imported them myself because no one here had them.
They arrived, I put them on, and it wasn't it.
There was nothing wrong with them. They were exactly as good as everyone said. They just weren't for me: they didn't match the music I listen to or what I was looking to feel. And there was no way to know that beforehand, because I had never heard them. Three thousand dollars, twelve months of waiting, and a disappointment I still remember.
What I lacked wasn't information. I had plenty of that. What I lacked was someone who knew the music I listen to and could tell me "not that one, try this one instead."
I traveled that path blindly because there was no one in Chile who had traveled it before and could tell me which way to go.
Now, I exist.
When you come here, you don't start from scratch. You start from where I arrived after twelve years of trial and error, and that means your first piece of gear can be the right one instead of the third. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than saving someone the mistakes that cost me time and money.
How I choose the brands
I don't bring in catalogs. I bring in obsessions I recognize.
When I evaluate a brand, I don't look at their top-of-the-line model; I look at how they make decisions. If they chose that component because it was the best or because it was the most convenient. If the circuit is designed around the chip or if the chip is shoved into a generic circuit. If behind it is someone who couldn't sleep until it sounded the way it should.
Very few brands pass that filter. These two pass it through opposite paths.
Luxury & Precision rescues what the industry gave up for lost
The best audio converters aren't manufactured forever. They get discontinued, factories close, and one day the chip that defined an era simply no longer exists. The entire industry reacts the same way: it migrates to whatever is available.
L&P does exactly the opposite. It goes out looking for what is disappearing. It buys final batches, rescues legendary silicon, and builds around it the circuit that chip always deserved—conversion, filtering, volume control, and output stage tuned one by one specifically for it.

That is why I chose these two and no others. You aren't listening to good headphones with a good source. You are listening to two obsessions that had been walking toward the same point for years without knowing it.

In Chile, anyone who wants high-end headphones or a high-end player has two paths. Import them on their own, with no warranty, no support, and without ever having heard them. Or buy them from someone who sells audio among twenty other categories and doesn't know what they have in their hands.

How I work
This is a business run by its owner. When you write, I answer you. When you come to listen to equipment, I assist you. There are no commission-based salespeople, and no catalog that I haven't tested myself.
Before I recommend something, I need to know what you listen to, what you are going to use it with, and what is missing from your current setup. Sometimes that means telling you that the most expensive model is not the one that suits you.
I still have those Porta Pros. And deep down, I'm still selling the same thing that hooked me at fourteen: a portable player and a pair of headphones. Only the scale has changed.
That that childhood obsession has turned into this is the best thing that has ever happened to me. And the best part of all is that I no longer experience it alone: every time someone takes off their headphones in the middle of a song with that face of not understanding what just happened, I experience it all over again with them.
